This week my daughter got in her first... no, second accident.
Nothing major.
Just added some new scrapes and scratches to my car.
(The car will live. My wallet... well, that's another story. 😅)
Here's the thing though...
After she heard the cringe-worthy scraping sound she kept driving.
Hoping it was nothing.
Hoping it would just... go away.
Hoping reality would bend to match her optimism.
(Spoiler alert: Reality doesn't work that way.)
When she finally pulled over to look, reality hit harder than that whatever-she-hit hit my car.
And it got me thinking...
I'm actually glad she's having these minor failures now. These little nicks and scratches are like life's sticky notes - reminders that hope needs a helmet sometimes.
Because here's what many of us are doing with AI right now:
We're hearing the scrapes. We're seeing the signs. But we're just... keeping on driving.
Hoping it's nothing major. Hoping it won't affect us. Hoping we can figure it out "later."
But here's the truth:
Being blindly hopeful is like driving with your eyes closed because you "hope" nothing's in your way.
Sure, AI disruption might be a 1-in-20 chance for your industry. Or maybe it's 1-in-100.
But you know what?
That's exactly why we have insurance. That's why we wear seatbelts. That's why we invest in protection before we need it.
The future of AI is bright - I truly believe that.
But bright futures still need preparation.
Don't be the one still driving after hearing the scrape.
Take a hard look at reality and buckle down with proper AI training now.
Because unlike my car's new "custom details," some scratches don't buff out so easily.
