Email marketing has long been a pillar channel of online marketing and communication. It’s the granddaddy, but it’s also the foundation. Every SAAS, system, and social media account requires an email address. You cannot get away from it.
It’s the cost doing business online.
Everyone must have an email account.
I’m sure things may change one day, but it doesn’t look like it will anytime soon.
The crazy thing is email has been getting MORE POPULAR!?
With all the social media options you would think it would be less. But let’s look at the data.
Why Is Email More Relevant Than Ever?
VIA PERPLEXITY:
“Over the past 2-3 years, both Substack and Beehiiv have experienced remarkable growth. Substack is the market leader, tripling its paid subscriptions from 1 million in 2021 to over 3 million by February 2024, while also attracting more than 20 million monthly active subscribers.
Meanwhile, Beehiiv has demonstrated explosive revenue growth, projecting $14 million for 2024, up from just $24,000 in 2021, and has expanded its customer base to 90,000 users.
According to Forbes Council, Doug Morneau on Medium, here are 8 Reasons Email Newsletters have comeback to popularity:
1. Escape from Algorithm Dependence
2. Ownership of Audience
3. Trust and Personalization
4. Content Overload Fatigue
5. Monetization Potential
6. Improved Analytics and Feedback
7. Nostalgia Meets Innovation
8. High ROI
My 2025 Email Marketing and AI Plans
As we look into 2025, I’m curious what your thoughts and plans for email are?
For me…
1. PERSONAL EMAIL
I’m building AI Agents to help me process and filter email so I can spend less time in it. I’ve got 5 email accounts that I actively use daily or weekly. My plan is to train the agent to look for key clients and contacts and notify me via WhatsApp or Telegram.
Eventually, I’ll have the agent do a little of the correspondence for me as well. But I’m not there yet.
2. EMAIL NEWSLETTERS
In 2025, I will double-down on growing all my lists. Substack has been an excellent channel and I’ve gained hundreds of new subscribers this year.
Next year I plan to start buying ads and partnering with other thought leaders, creators and collaborate with content.
(If you’re a thought leader and want to partner, hit me up!)
3. EMAIL and AI
When CustomGPTs came out, I trained an email GPT to use my conversational writing style. I’ve used it to write my emails maybe 25% of the time. I’ve also created a Claude Project that does the same and actually like the Claude version better.
But I still like writing myself.
As AI gets better and clones my style better, I’ll continue testing and using it to write for me. I’m excited to continue to collaborate with AI because not only is it helping me save time, it increase the value I deliver to those who read what I write.

P.S. The Future of Email Marketing
Below is an image I created using Napkin.ai
If you click on the link, you can see the full article that Napkin wrote.
It’s a pretty cool product that illustrates ideas behind content.
It produced 10 different illustrations on the future of email marketing… I was quote impressed and will likely be using it more for presentations and emails. I normally don’t like AI images as I haven’t perfected the process yet.
But maybe with Napkin, I’ll start using it more.
